Standing Barbell Shoulder Press
Objective: Upper body strength emphasis (Shoulders) Technique: Stand upright, feet just wider than shoulder width apart. Start by holding a barbell below the chin resting on your upper chest, hands gripping the bar just wider than shoulder width. Press the barbell upwards to full extension above the head. Lower slowly to original start position and repeat. Coaching Tips: Control the movement down not allowing any momentum. Keep your chest up and lock your hips to engage the core muscles during execution. Move your head slightly forward as you press up so your head ends directly below the bar on full extension. Do not hyperextend your back but maintain a good posture throughout the movement.
