Three players start up at the top of the grid in the middle with a ball and designated scrum half. Three other players position themselves around the outside of the top of the channel each with a contact shield. The remaining two players space themselves evenly further down the channel to defend. Drill starts with a player running into one of the contact shields and presenting the ball, second player cleans out the shield and the scrumhalf (third player) picks up the ball and returns it to the middle of the channel. The ball is then picked up and the sequence is repeated twice onto the other two shields, with the ball always returned to the middle. After the third clean out the ball is placed in the middle, picked up and the players attack the channel with the two defenders in creating 3v1 situations.
